Bacteria belonging to the Streptococcus genus may occasionally be present in very low levels in healthy pets, but when Streptococcus begins to take up too much space in the gut microbiome, digestive issues often appear as well. It is very important that Streptococcus bacteria are not among the top 5 bacteria in your pet’s gut; if you find this to be the case, consider decreasing or eliminating carbohydrates from your pet’s diet, which may help to decrease their numbers.
